Living room in Victorian terrace (London)


This scheme was based on an intention to re-use as much as possible from the previous decor - with a twist! A black and white monochrome scheme suited this north facing front room well. Several patterns in different scales were used, including a highly textural Harlequin fabric on the bay window curtains. A daring lime yellow (Trumpet by Little Greene Paint) was chosen to give a cheap plaster reproduction fire surround a second and much more exuberant life! The gold chandelier was sprayed in black matt paint and the back of the previous bookcase lined with dotty wallpaper.
Update: after a couple of seasons, the fireplace was painted white, until it finds its next coat!
