Cocktail bar - Beckenham

Moon-1.jpg

This large bar restaurant in a busy high street were keen to create a new bar counter in the front room, which is also the main entrance to the venue.

The concept is based on sand, a texture that is pale, soft and relaxing by day but then comes alive and sparkles at night! I had in my mind the vision of a very remote, desert island, and as the overall venue is called Moon, I developed a concept reminiscent of the Galapagos Islands and turtles guided by the moon. The Cove was a name was came straight away when developing the concept and the owners adopted it!

Mother of pearl is a key ingredient in the scheme and it shows how nature offers the most luxurious materials of all. Some walls are covered in 'moonstone', a textured mica, which is the result of a chemical reaction between quartz and granite when exposed to extreme heat. Arches were created to add a lot of depth to the space and these were lined with bespoke antiqued mirrors, tinted in green. Penny mosaic tiles line the bar counter, the ceiling is clad in acoustic slatted panels, and all the light fittings have been selected for their understated look by day and glamourous look by night. â€‹
