Bedroom and ensuite bathroom (France)

Bathroom door-1 (2)_edited.jpg

The project consisted in converting an existing annex into a bedroom and ensuite for an older relative with reduced mobility. Whilst the brief didn't require full wheelchair accessibility, it was important that enough traffic space was available for the use of a Zimmer frame and to future proof the bathroom for nursing staff and aids.

The design scheme was inspired by the client's fond memories of her time visiting Algerian oases. Travertine stone was used throughout the ensuite bathroom for its naturally anti-slip properties and strong connection to nature. In the bedroom, a trompe l'oeil effect was created on a bespoke headboard and wardrobes to mimic plantation shutters. A palm leaf wallpaper and teal accents completed the oasis scheme.
